[NI0093] The following text is from Callicott Connections I by John T. Callicotte
(Gateway Press, Inc., Baltimore, Md, 1984), p. 40 :

"His name first appears in offical records in a land transaction on September 01, 1777 when he bought 69 acres of land from James Callicott, his father, on Snails Creek in Prince Edward County, Virginia. He is listed in the 1800 Census of Montgomery County, N.C., as head of a household with 7 children, 3 boys and 4 girls. As he was not shown in the 1790 Virginia Census, it is assumed that he moved from Virginia to Montgomery County, N.C. around 1790. Harrison, together with his brother Beverly, sold 97 acres on Snail's Creek to William Griffin on June 04, 1783. This indicates the possibility that Harrison may have moved to North Carolina as early as 1782 or 1783. We do know that his brother Beverly moved to Charlotte County, Virginia in 1783 and later to North Carolina. Harrison is not shown in any North Carolina census after 1800. Betty Callicott Cowan of Burlington, Iowa states that there is a legend in her family that Harrison gave land for the Forks of Little River Church. If true, this means that Harrison lived very close to John Bailey Callicott (his brother) whose land bordered that owned by Thomas Ward. The significance of this is found in "Pattern of Timeless Moments" on Freedom of Worship, page 187, which states - 'Little River, a branch of the Peedee near to which the meeting house stands in Anson County. The church consists of four branches, one near Little River where is a house, 30 feet by 20 built in 1768, another on land given by Thomas Ward.'

We have determined that Harrison had two marriages. The first to 'Elizabeth' (they witnessed the Will of his father, James Callicott, on August 17, 1778. {see p.26 of CCI}). His second marriage was to Prudence BOWLING (Bolling) or (Boling).

About 1806 Harrison and a party of settlers, together with his son-in-law Benjamin Bowling (also spelled Bolling), relocated to Kentucky and settled in Adair County, near Russell Springs. Harrison and some of his children remained in that area for the rest of their lives. Harrison died at the home of his son-in-law, Benjamin Bowling, in 1824.

From the information presented in Section 3 of this Chapter and other information available to us on Harrison Callicott and his decendants, we have determined that he had at least nine children."
