INDEX

[NI0134] Captain William Maynard was born ca 1800, probably in Kentucky, and was a son of Moses and Sarah (Greenstreet) Maynard. Moses Maynard came from North Carolina to Eastern Kentucky about 1790-1799. Moses was a Revolutionary War soldier and after staying for about 35 years in Eastern Kentucky moved to Madison County, Indiana where he died, reportedly, at the age of 107 years on June 15, 1874. ("Courier-Journal", Louisville, Kentucky June 30, 1874, page 3, columns 2 and 3.)

==================================================================================

Captain William Maynard married Sarah Campbell, daughter of William and Nancy Campbell, on April 16, 1821 in Floyd County, Kentucky (File #552).

William and Nancy Cambell were residents of the part of Floyd County that became Pike County and lived on Chloe Creek.

==================================================================================

William and Sarah (Campbell) Maynard moved to Logan County, Virginia and resided near present Chattaroy, West Virginia. Sometime after 1860 they moved to Boyd County, Kentucky. They appear in the 1840, 1850, and 1860 Censuses of Logan County, Kentucky. It is believed that Captain William Maynard died about 1871 in Boyd County, Kentucky. Sarah Campbell Maynard probably died in the late 1870's in Boyd County, Kentucky.

===================================================================================

William Maynard, son of Moses and Sarah (Greenstreet) Maynard, married Sarah Cambell and they apparently went with Moses to Indiana, but returned to Logan County, Virginia before 1840, settling near the present Chattaroy, West Virginia. Around the end of the Civil War they moved from there to Boyd County, Kentucky. William and Sarah probably died in Catlettsburg, Kentucky shortly after 1870.
