The Forkner-Dysen book gives the date of birth of Moses Maynard as September 23, 1763 and of his death as June 15, 1874. It states that William Maynard, father of Moses was a shoemaker.

The 1874 history by Harden states that Moses Maynard was born in Orange County, North Carolina, October 18, 1767 and married in 1788 and that he moved to Kentucky in 1790, from whence he removed with seven of his children to Madison County, Indiana in 1834, settling in the neighborhood of the Little Killbuck. Also, it states that his wife died in 1846 and gives the date of death of Moses as June 18, 1874. Forkner gives the date of death of Moses as June 15, 1874.
