Harvey Lee "George" Mayo, a longtime Bentley resident, passed away on Saturday, January 13,
2001 at the Hurley Hospital in Coalgate, Coal County Oklahoma. George died at the age of 89 years,
1 month, and 15 days. He was born on November 28, 1911 at Madill, Oklahoma to James Dorsey
and Stella Steward Mayo. George attended schools at Lebanon, Marshall County, Oklahoma and Star,
Atoka County, Oklahoma. He was a longtime member of the Bentley Baptist Church, and a former
member of Bentley Community Board. Harvey Lee "George" Mayo and Florence Thelma Callicoat
were married on November 15, 1934 at Bentley, Atoka County, Oklahoma.


Harvey Lee "George" Mayo was survived by :

His Wife, Florence Thelma (Callicoat) Mayo of the home near Bentley, Atoka County, Oklahoma.

One Daughter, Eunice Lois (Mayo) Reed and husband Charles Reed of Bentley, Atoka County, Oklahoma.

Three Sons, Harvey Mayo Jr. and wife Ruth of Bentley, Atoka County, Oklahoma; Curtis Mayo and wife
Myrna of Caddo, Oklahoma; and Wayne Mayo and wife Roberta of Whitesboro, Texas.

Eleven Grandchildren, forty-five Great-Grandchildren, and eleven Great-Great-Grandchildren

Along with numerous Nieces, Nephews, other relatives and many dear and loved friends.


Harvey Lee "George" Mayo was preceded in death by his parents James Dorsey and Stella Steward
Mayo, twelve brothers and four sisters, his grandson Keith Mayo, his great-granddaughter Cheyenne
Mayo, and his son-in-law Garlin Dwiggins.

Funeral services for Harvey Lee "George" Mayo were Tuesday, January 16, 2001 at 2:00 P.M. at the
Bentley Baptist Church with Rev. Clint Thurman officiating and Rev. John Howard assisting. The
casketbearers were Charles Carroll, Kenneth Frazier,Donald Coyle, Josh Allen, Sandy Danderson, and
Troy Gammon. The honorary casketbearers were his grandsons Melvin Mayo, Wesley Mayo, John
Mayo, Steven Mayo, Gilbert Dwiggins, Glen Dwiggins, Eugene Mayo, Clint Mayo, and Lloyd Mayo.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Brown's Funeral Services, Atoka, Atoka County, Oklahoma.
George was laid to rest in the Bentley Cemetery, Bentley, Atoka County, Oklahoma.
