We did it.  We won a BMW Z3 Convertible Roadster at the Luxor Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.  The BMW dealer was Desert BMW of Las Vegas .  We were celebrating Ellis' 40th birthday.   It all started with a last minute trip to Vegas on Funjet airlines.  This was our first flight since September 11th.

I recall telling Ellis that we may have to rent a car and drive back.  I had bad feelings about flying and didn't think I could get back on the plane at the end of our trip.   I prayed very hard that God would find a way for us to drive back home.   We stayed at the Luxor because we like to play seven card stud poker.  We normally don't play much on the slot machines but Ellis had plans.  He had his eye on this BMW Z3.  We decided to play for the car Saturday night.  Ellis picked out a machine and said, "We're going to win that BMW while I'm still in my thirty's".  He sat down and the machine wouldn't take bills of any kind so he moved to another machine.  Shortly after, a young lady sat down at that same machine.  She and her husband were married earlier that week and she had been playing that same machine all week long with no pay-off.  While sitting beside me, she finally won 1,000 coins which was the next biggest prize.  We were very happy for them.  After she left, Ellis told me to sit at that machine.  (The original machine that he picked to win the car.)  For those of you who don't know Ellis, he usually doesn't say we're going to win.  We go to Vegas knowing we're going to lose.  We played for about two or three hours and I was ready for bed.  I had already asked Ellis three times if  we could go to bed.  He just kept handing me money to keep me playing and kept insisting we were going to win the car.  My machine was losing but his machine was winning enough to keep him going.  At this point, I'm ready for bed so I decided to play as fast as possible to get rid of my money.  That's when I hit the jackpot.  WooHoo!  I couldn't believe it.  I was actually speechless.  The winning combination was "007".  I spent around one to two hundred dollars on the machine before it won.  The Goldeneye machines are a 25 cent minimum bet with a maximum of 50 cents per play.   The Luxor gives away an average of one BMW a month.  In fact, there have been two given away back to back within thirty minutes of each other on the same machine.  It is now close to midnight.  There will be no sleeping tonight.  We just walked around like zombies.  It's a really cool feeling to be a VIP in a casino.  We couldn't sign the paperwork or pick up the car until Monday afternoon so we just hung out for the rest of our stay.  No need to gamble at this point.  It would be hard to top winning a car.  They drove the car off the ramps and out the front door Monday morning around 10:00a.m.  We arrived home two days and 1,400 miles later.

We would like to thank the staff at Luxor for their hospitality.  They took very good care of us.  They even sent us the photos they took.

We'd also like to thank Allan Karp at Desert BMW of Las Vegas as he treated us with kindness and helped us even after we were home in Texas.
